Tackling Myths about Financial Aid for Higher Education
Join us in this round table format event with experts in the subject. Consider the options for you and/or your children. A continental breakfast will be provided.
Our panel of speakers will provide information on the Application process, Financial Aid and Scholarship opportunities, followed by a Q&A session. Topics will include:
- Building your academic resume – What are key experiences that colleges look for in a student? How does volunteer experience and SAT scores weigh in on an acceptance decision?
- Tapping into resources for college – Where can we find information on financial aid and scholarships?
- Debunking myths about Financial Aid – Tackling myths about FAFSA and scholarship.
- Financial Package - Working with your college Financial Aid Counselor to put together a Financial Plan that works for you.
We'll have a set of panelists consist of Admission and Financial Aid counselors as well as students that have gone through the financial aid process from area Universities.

Our Event Moderator
Jackie Ruffolo is the President of JR Language Translation Services Inc., a translation agency providing services to customers around the globe. She manages the overall business, from planning and marketing to customer satisfaction and quality. Jackie holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Simon Bolivar University, Venezuela.
Jackie has served in several community organizations, including a welcoming committe for new comers to the Rochester area. She is very active and supporting in her children's school and college sports activities. Jackie currently serves on the Board of Directors of Latinas Unidas.
