About Mata Ortiz pottery Mata Ortiz pottery is famous world-wide for the elegance of the pots and the gorgeous designs. Intricate patterns, delicate forms, unique materials - all are part of the Mata Ortiz tradition. Ana Trillo and her husband Monico Corona, two potters from this town, are expected to attend the opening night of the exhibit. About 50 years ago, a villager, who was then just a kid, named Juan Quezada became fascinated with pottery shards he'd find all around the village. Joseph Sorrentino spent two weeks in the village documenting the pottery-making process in March 2008. Joseph's chronicle of daily life and the process will be shared alongside the pottery. Come meet the artists and experience their work. |
