Reconocimiento Award 2005
Presentation Speech for Stephanie Adriana Hoppe, Young Latina Leadership Award.
Presenter: Rachel Betancourt Swingle.
I am very pleased to be asked to introduce the recipient of the Young Latina Leadership Award.
This young lady is 13 years old, and an 8th grader at Bay Trail Middle School in Penfield. She is a straight “A” student who has received many awards in school, including a science award from the 2005 Science Congress, and Student of the Month. She has been described by her teachers as having a rare “sense of leadership and maturity for someone so young,” and being helpful and compassionate.
This young lady has a long history of volunteer work that began when she was 9 years old. She has volunteered in activities in her church, as well as in nursing homes and school. More recently, she participated in special projects to collect for Tsunami relief.
Our recipient lives with her parent and sister, as well as with her two grandmothers, one from Mexico and the from Germany. This young lady is proud of her rich heritage, and takes opportunities to demonstrate it to others. I’m sure by now that you want to know who this deserving young lady is. Let’s give a warm welcome to Stephanie Adriana Hoppe, our Young Latina Leadership Award winner.
