Reconocimiento Award 2006

Presentation Speech for Marisol Rivera, Volunteer Service Award.

Presenter: Yamalis Hernandez - Sr. Resource Development Associate LLDP, United Way of Rochester.

"I am very pleased to present to you the Volunteer Service Award.

The recipient of this year’s award truly exemplifies the heart, the head, and the habits of our most treasured volunteers.

Through her volunteer work with the National Kidney Foundation,
Marisol Rivera has committed herself to help those in our community
that are disproportionately affected by diabetes, high blood pressure,
and kidney failure: the Latinos and African Americans populations.

Marisol has been instrumental in creating awareness through volunteering in our community fairs and events that occur throughout the year. Also, she has led many to receive blood pressure screenings, and has inclusively provided our community members with valuable resources and referrals in this area of health.

Marisol’s volunteerism does not end there.

She has served as a Girl Scout Leader at School # 8 and has been the 'Team Mothe' for the Pop Warner football and cheerleading team.

In 2003 she received the Adult Volunteer of the Year Award for her tireless work with all she did for the Maplewood YMCA.

Additionally, Marisol is a mentor, and has served as surrogate mother to many of her daughter’s friends and anyone that needs a helping hand, a hug, a shoulder to lean on, a voice, a listening ear and above all love.

Congratulations Marisol! Please come up and receive the 2006 Latinas Unidas Service Awards."
