To Connie Castañeda, named new Vice-Mayor of the Village of Brockport on July 17. Ms. Castañeda is the first Latina elected to the City Council.

To Yamalis Hernandez, new senior Latino Leadership Development Program (LLDP) associate for the United Way of Rochester . Yamalis has a bachelor's degree in Anthropology from State University College at Geneseo and was previously the director of the ABCD Lake Ontario Migrant Head Start.

To Iveth Reynolds, joining the the Latinas Unidas Steering Committee as Secretary. Iveth is the CEO of the Rochester firm Tri-Mar Consulting & Staffing . Welcome aboard, Iveth!!
To Rose Gazarek, appointed to the Board of Advisors of the National Contract Management Association by its National President, Lenn Vincent. This is the first time any latino/latina has been a member of the Board of Advisors. The Board of Advisors is appointed in accordance with the national bylaws to provide top-level counsel to the national officers of NCMA on issues of importance to the contract management profession. The board consists of senior executives who represent a cross section of the profession.
To Mildred D. Vázquez, named executive director of Puerto Rican Youth Development. Ms. Vazquez most recently worked as an administrator for the Arc of Monroe County. She also worked for the Urban League of Rochester and Action for a Better Community.

To Daisy Rivera-Algarín, Latinas Unidas Chair, nominated for the Rochester Women's Network 2006 "W" Award. This award recognizes the work of the nominees to improve the lives of women and girls in our community. Daisy works for the City of Rochester in the Economic Development Department.
To Hilda Escher, selected as the new President and Chief Executive Officer the Ibero-American Action League, the first woman to hold this post. Ms. Esher was previously Vice President in charge of the Developmental Disabilities Division of Ibero.

To Emily Torres, long term supporter of Latinas Unidas and former Director of Family Support Services, was named Interim Executive Director of Wilson Commencement Park. Emily heads the commencement park's new partnership with Strong Memorial Hospital to provide health services over the Internet to more than 200 families a year.
To Blanca Mastbaum-Kane, Latinas Unidas Media Chair, new staff writer in the Gannette Rochester's Latin monthly magazine, ConXion.
